As a 10-year old, I can remember spending hours reading recipes, cutting them out and placing them in a scrapbook. If I lived to be 500, I could certainly never make all those recipes, yet I still continued to collect them for years and years. I have an extensive collection of cookbooks as well. Cooking has been a passion of mine for 56 years, but I never made a career of it. I sift through thousands of cooking channels and YouTube videos to learn tips from each chef. My heritage is half Italian and half Greek...grandmother Greek, grandfather Italian. I speak both languages. I was fortunate enough to live in Italy for quite a number of years. In fact, I attended Livorno American High School in Camp Darby (near Pisa, Italy). My father was in the U.S. Army and stationed there. 7-12th grades in school were spent in Italy. I loved my time there. If you know anything about Italians, sitting down to enjoy a good meal with family and friends is always the most important priority of the day. In fact, it's the discussion early in the day while you have a cup of morning coffee. Cosa si mangia oggi? (What are we eating today?) Even though I was born in Louisiana, I am first generation American so all my Italian/Greek relatives reside in Europe. I've been cooking and entertaining now for over 40 years. There is a second kitchen in my home just for baking and cooking special meals. My second kitchen is a work kitchen. It is surrounded by quite a few kitchen appliances and gadgets that includes tons of cookbooks and handwritten recipe journals. It's my happy place where I can relax, put on some Italian music by Andrea Bocelli (love) or holiday music and prepare meals. I keep copious notes in numerous cooking journals and love to prepare quality foods. My requirement is the food not only taste good using quality ingredients...but the presentation must also be appealing to set an ambiance. Quality of food is of utmost importance. Would venture to say I have a very serious addiction and passion for cooking considering the number of kitchen gadgets and appliances I own. It brings me joy to be creative and to share food with others. I have had two successful professional careers both as a technology software trainer for business/industry (30 years, now retired) and a licensed Georgia Realtor® (25 years, still active and sell full time). Would love to market and sell your home by the way! I LOVE ALL OF IT. You might say I love to learn just about anything, and I do whatever I can to excel at it. Customer service is also #1 for me.
Why did I decide to start a side business making desserts?
During the pandemic in 2019, I became very bored while on lockdown. As I mentioned, I am a full-time real estate professional. So I decided to bake desserts for first line responders, clients, and friends. I made and gave away hundreds of baked items so I could bring a smile on faces even for just a few seconds as we mourn the loss of loved ones whether we knew them or not. As I got into learning more about cooking techniques, my style for making desserts became more sophisticated. I became super creative surprising even myself on things I started making. Would love to tell you that I baked with Mom or Nonna (grandmother in Italian) in the past or I went to Paris for a year to intern with a Parisian pastry chef or I went to culinary school. These were things I read about others who started a baking or culinary business. But this isn't my story. I've never even taken a class. All of this just started coming out of me during the pandemic lockdown, and I can only say it is a gift from God. I have no other explanation. I would be honored to make something for you to enjoy. I work pretty tirelessly to perfect each recipe so you enjoy a quality dessert or dish. I am not a full-time baker. Nor have a culinary degree. Real estate is my full-time career. Baking is a "seasonal only" online business and new desserts will be introduced throughout the year. Order something for a special friend... for a family member... or simply splurge on yourself. You will be able to "taste" the difference. I don't use preservatives. I only use quality ingredients. Thank you, and it will be my pleasure to make something special for you.
NOTE: Order early PLEASE. Just call me. I need at least 2-3 weeks time to be sure I can get you on the schedule to acquire the ingredients and get your order prepared on time. Desserts are a popular choice for many of my clients.
